Have read other work by David Rock and listened in on several of Results Coaching webinars. Shared some of the thinking and tools from this read with my Operations Mgt. class and find the concepts effective, practical and helpful. Interesting perspectives on self-awareness & self management, focused on improving one’s approach to creating the results that are important to you.

This definitely is THE book one must read in order to have not just a more effective but also a happier life. The way cutting edge brain science is presented in a very simple and practical manner is stunning.
You do not need to know anything about the brain’s functioning to get great insights about what is happening inside your scull and how you can learn to make the most out of that gelatinous blob. The more you already know about the brain, the more you will appreciate the author’s ability so make complicated things simple and manageable.

David Rock has really honed his writing style, and it shows here. He does a wonderful job of presenting the science and theory of the brain in small, useful bites that make it easily accessible and applicable. At the same time, he’s written this book in a voice that is distinctly his own. If you’ve ever heard David speak at a conference or in a teleseminar, then you’ll recognize his voice in this book.
It is rare that I read a business book cover to cover; “Your Brain at Work” almost demanded it. The small bites that he presents his information in allowed me to absorb information in the short sets that my life allows, contemplate, and then go back for more. I found that the themes and stories flowing through the book from front to back really helped demonstrate how to apply the information to my own world, immediately. Consistent end-of-chapter elements – “Surprises About the Brain” and “Some Things to Try” – serve both as insightful keys to applying the material, and also points for review when I go back to this book in search of a specific reminder later.
I have so far found two applications for this material: it is helpful for getting more out of my own brain, and I am also finding it of great use within my own coaching practice. This is a great book and a “must-read”.

David has an ability to take what could be a very esoteric topic — how your brain works — and making it both interesting and useful. This is second of his books I have read and found both very worthwhile.
I am sure we will see the material David introduces here being applied in executive suites and the general workplace over the next few years. It is based on observable science and works. Great introduction.

David Rock has written this book so that your brain has the easiest possible time absorbing and interacting with a highly complex and thought-provoking subject. A strong and effective narrative device draws the reader through the book, and helps make the details of the subject memorable. While it’s rich in imagery and actionable ideas there is extensive, detailed content. It’s a far lighter read than you would expect for such a weighty subject.
Your Brain at Work is a book you will need to own so that you can reference and re-read when required. Because it encourages you to move beyond just reading and develop practices that support the positive use of your brain, this is a book that could have a major impact on your life.
